Hello April! This is the last month of my maternity leave 🙁 I cannot believe the time is going to quickly and soon I’ll be back at work and having to get used to a totally different routine. April is going to be a quiet month for us; we have nothing planned and I’m just going to make the most of the time I have left. I’m hoping that the weather gets a bit warmer so we can go on some walks and get some fresh air.
Every month I like to set myself aims for the month, to keep myself focused and to make sure I actually use the time during the month wisely! There are two sets of aims: Finance and Personal. March ended up being quite positive, so I’m hoping that April will end up being just the same.
Financial aims for April:
– Have 18 No Spend Days (NSDs)
– Overpay our mortgage by something
– Put £400 into savings
As I failed at my NSD target in March I’ve lowered it by one for April. I don’t know what’s wrong with me at the moment but money seems to be leaking out of our household more and more. I need to get back on track with these as soon as I can. Our mortgage overpayment targets have changed again; I want to continue overpaying but I don’t know if we can commit to a certain number at this stage. However, as being mortgage free is a big part of our goals, I want to continue to overpay for as long as we can, even if it’s a small number. The savings target for the month is the same as the previous two months, in the hopes that I might hit it this month.
Personal Aims For March:
– lose 4lbs
– continue to declutter things from our home
– finish decorating the hall and staircase.
So, a new month means the continuation of my #30beforethirty challenge and it means I need to focus! I haven’t done particularly well so far so I’m hoping that March will go better in this respect. I’m logging my food and I’ll weigh myself every Saturday to chart my progress. I want to continue to simplify our home and that means sorting out and getting rid of the excess things we don’t need. I keep listing things on eBay and they sell slowly, but it’s better than nothing and more things that are no longer in our home. And finally, we are doing some home improvements this month which will mean that our house will look so much better and more to our tastes. We’re going to try and do it on a budget, though!
Do you have any aims for this month? What will challenge you the most? I’d love to hear from you!

Good luck with your goals! My main goal in April is to keep track of our spending and save as much money as we can. I really want to stay focused.
My maternity leave ends in September but then I have another 6 weeks of annual leave to take so really I do not have to be back in the office until November. Time does fly though! I can’t quite believe I have been at home since September last year! How is it April yet?! 🙂

It is insane how fast time goes when you’re on maternity leave; try and make sure you make every moment count. I can’t believe mine is almost over 🙁
