Well, I am so glad August is over! Actually, I am and I’m not. For one, it means I’m back to work on Monday but my goodness, has it been a complete wash out when it comes to the budget. I was so naive in thinking that I wouldn’t spend any more during the school holidays! Ha, I wish!
So yes, very spend-y. I have gone over my budget in all areas. I’ll have a YouTube video up tonight on my overall August review spending wise, but that’s the honest truth. We’ve done more, been more places, spent more and had a good time. Perhaps I shouldn’t be so disappointed? Next year I will definitely set up a sinking fund for the summer holidays. Lesson learned, indeed.
My Financial aims for August were:
– Have 15 No Spend Days (NSDs)
– Overpay our mortgage by £185
– Put £600 into savings
Despite saying that we’ve been very spend-y during August, I have somehow met my NSD aim! The last two weeks I have tried to reign it in a bit; the first two weeks of August were a complete washout. I have managed the 15 NSDs I set out to achieve in August. But, as a result of more spending, my overpayment this month is far from my aim. I have managed an overpayment of £109.64 so a lot less. Similarly with savings, I haven’t quite managed my aim. I have put £500 into savings during August.
My Personal Aims for August were:
– enjoy the summer holidays
– get the Frugal Living Membership Community ready for launch on 1st September (more on this soon!)
I have so enjoyed the summer holidays with my two boys. Yes, it has been stressful at times and I have wished for a bit of peace and quiet, but on the whole it has been wonderful. They are turning to two very cheeky characters! And I have been on the receiving end of them clubbing together, which is new 🙂 I feel very sad that it’s almost come to a close. On to another chapter, I suppose.
And I haven’t got round to launching this. I feel like there is a lot to learn about a membership community and I haven’t done it to the best of my ability yet so I am going to delay this slightly. I am still planning on it – I have lots of things already written – but it will be in a while.

My August has ended with a complete financial washout. The next two weeks will be tough and I don’t have school holidays or children to cause my over spends.
Onwards to a much better September.
