Hello August! Another brand new month to look forward to. It’s an exciting month in our household as Frugal Toddler turns 3 🙂 he knows this too which is cute. We’re just having a little party with family members in our garden and I’m going to make him a chocolate cake for his birthday cake.
Other than that, August is quiet. We’re all off work at the moment so it will be nice to spend some time together as a four. I’m hoping to get out for some days out if the weather stays nice. It makes such a difference to get out somewhere during the day, even if that’s just to the shops and back.
Financial aims for August:
– Have 18 No Spend Days (NSDs)
– Overpay our mortgage by £85
– Put £600 into savings
I am so hit and miss with NSDs at the moment. I am really struggling with them, in fact. We always seem to need to get something, whether it’s milk or nappies or formula. Most of our spends are necessity spends, but spends non the less. We shall see how August goes.  The overpayment aim is going to stay the same each month throughout the year. The savings aim is the same as last month, as we are still feeling the effects of being on a reduced household income.
Personal Aims For August:
– have 20 days on plan on Slimming World
– look at Kindle publishing.
– get my hair cut
I’ve set myself a little (personal) weight loss target for over the summer, so 20 days on plan would be a fantastic start. When I stay on plan, it really does work for me so I just need to get my head back in the game. July ended up being a bit of a disaster in this respect, so I’m hooping to get back on track during August. I want to look at Kindle publishing for another project I’m working on 🙂 and finally, my hair is in desperate need of cutting and I had intended to get it done before I went back to work but I’m not entirely sure where the time has gone? But yes, it really needs it.
What are your aims for the month? I’d love to hear them!

I made 25 days without spending except for milk and bread if I didn’t have the time to make. it. Also marked everyday what I cooked so I could REALLY look at my spending habits. The non spending days I updated my coupons and searched the web for more inviting recipes for leftovers.
The bottom line I cut my complete overhead by $214.00 for the month which also included revisiting my basic tv, medical supplies, car insurance and home owners insurance. I learned so much realizing the hidden costs companies charge you so I started to reconstruct my budget for the next month. My needs for what I wasted in money was a shock. Best part I’m having fun looking at my piggy bank growing and not missing anything or being denied.

Is it sad that I can’t wait to get a mortgage just so I can overpay it? 🙂
Nicola says
Haha, no! I like seeing the numbers go down 🙂
