Well, Black Friday has arrived. It began in America, as it’s the day after Thanksgiving, but it seems to be bigger and bigger in the UK each year too. Are you planning on shopping the Black Friday deals today? I wrote a post two years ago about how I wasn’t going to take part, apart from for a couple of items that I wanted.
You will probably be bombarded with information today. Lots of emails, if you haven’t already started receiving them. Posts from your favourite bloggers throughout the day, sharing deals they have found. And some will be worth it. But, be wary of the majority.
Remember, a deal is only a deal if you were going to buy that item anyway. Spending money when you weren’t planning to isn’t money saving, the complete opposite in fact! If you spend on something that catches your eye, then it isn’t budgeted for and is an impulse buy.
I am actually planning to buy a couple of things today, in the Black Friday deals mania. But, these are Christmas presents and I am just waiting to see if there are any deals that apply. If not, then I’ll buy the items anyway, but if there are any discounts then I’ve done the right thing by waiting.
Remember, the biggest companies will shout the loudest. But, following on from my post on Tuesday, try to look at the smaller shops if you can. Those who might be offering a small discount but for whom every single order is so much more important. One of the things I have my eye on is in an Etsy shop, run by someone in the North of England. Not some big, fat cat company. Someone who has put their heart and soul into something they honestly believe in.
Talking of which, I am running a promotion on my popular Reduce Your Food Spend course. If you are wanting to reduce your food budget, get a hold on meal planning and reduce your food waste as well, then take a look. It’s 70% off with the code BF2018 so if it would help you, then check it out.
Are you planning on buying anything today? If so, what? Is it a good deal?
