Hello December! December is my favourite month of the year; I find it impossible to get all excited about the holidays, spending time with family and having fun. It’ll be our first Christmas as the three of us, so I’m looking forward to putting up the decorations and sharing all about Christmas with our son. I know he’s too young to understand what is going on, but that doesn’t stop me from trying.
Every month I like to set myself aims for the month, to keep myself focused and to make sure I actually use the time during the month wisely! There are two sets of aims: Finance and Personal. November was somewhat hit and miss in terms of my aims, both Financial and Personal, though I’m not sure I’ll do much better in December, as it always seems to be an expensive month, whether I want it to be or not.
Financial aims for December:
– Have 18 No Spend Days (NSDs)
– Overpay our mortgage by something
– Put £500 into savings
I didn’t hit our target for NSDs for November, so I have decreased the number target for December. I think that I might find this tough, as we’re quite busy throughout December. Our mortgage overpayment targets have changed again; I want to continue overpaying but I don’t know if we can commit to a certain number at this stage. However, as being mortgage free is a big part of our goals, I want to continue to overpay for as long as we can, even if it’s a small number. The savings target for the month remains the same as November, as our household income keeps decreasing, so this will be harder to hit. That combined with holiday shopping means this might be tricky.
Personal Aims For December:
– lose 4lbs
– declutter one bin bag’s worth of stuff
– help out with Christmas dinner
Now that I’m not pregnant anymore, I have some weight to lose! Luckily, I didn’t gain too much weight during pregnancy but there is still some there that I’d like to get rid of. I lost 2lbs in November, so whilst I’m finally going in the right direction, it’s slow. Now, I know that December probably isn’t the best month to try to lose weight, but I am going to anyway. I’m going to try and consistently exercise three times a week and eat more healthily; it’s far too easy to end up snacking all day whilst I’m at home and I need to break this habit I’ve fallen into asap. I want to continue to declutter and try to sell more of our items; I just need to find the time to photograph items and upload them onto various sites. Another source of money would be good right now! Finally, I want to help out with food at Christmas time, if I can, so that the stress and hassle isn’t just on one person alone.
Do you have any aims for this month? What will challenge you the most? I’d love to hear from you!
