Hello February! A brand new month. January seems to have gone by really quickly. In some ways, I hope that February isn’t the same! I need it to slow down slightly. However, 2020 is off to a good start. If you have read my January 2020 review post, you will know this! Our No Spend Year is going well 🙂 I was apprehensive about starting it but am enjoying it so far. That might not be the same in month five, but we shall see!
In terms of finances, it’s looking good for February. I am on holiday for a week during February but I’m hoping that it won’t have a big impact on my spending habits. Lots of trips to the park – it’s free! Plus bike rides if the weather is ok. If it isn’t, then lots of duvet days with films and hot chocolate. Either way, I think that it should continue in the same way, all being well. The only thing that we have to do this month is one of our cats has to have some back teeth taken out. I have no idea as to the cost of this so that might be an unexpected expense. Does anyone know how much this might cost us?
My Financial aims for February are:
– Have 18 No Spend Days (NSDs)
– Overpay the mortgage by £185
– Put £700 into savings
As February is a shorter month I have lowered my NSD aim slightly. I am hoping to exceed this but we’ll see! My February budget planner is set up and I am ready for it. If you’re wondering about your finances, then this exact system plus the cash envelopes I use have absolutely transformed our finances. I do recommend you download it and start tracking today! It’s available here. Our mortgage overpayments are going to be same each month again as they were last year. Any spare money will perhaps go towards this in due course. I haven’t decided yet! And finally, the savings target will also be the same every month.
My Personal Aims for February are:
– get ahead with blog posts
– plan out YouTube content for the month
– be organised!
These are actually the same as last month! If I can get ahead with blog posts it does ease the pressure a bit. I haven’t managed this in a long time – probably since before having children – so it’s a big ask. It’s all about that motivation and energy after a long day! I just need to be more productive when our little one naps. Easier said than done though…. I have some more ideas for YouTube this month so I just need to factor in filming those. Again, it links back to the time issue. Finally, being organised will take the pressure off all areas, which is always a good thing 🙂 just planning for the day ahead the night before will help. Little steps!
Here’s to February being great! What are your aims for the month? I’d love to hear them!

I may need to take note of the no spend days, I find that even though I feel as if I don’t spend much per day by the end of the month it adds up to a total far beyond what I would of guessed. What happens when you run out of fuel on a no spend day? Or do you just try and plan ahead?

I tend to get petrol on a weekend and it lasts all week 🙂
