Hello.
So, it’s been a while. In fact, it’s been 8 months since I last wrote a post here on The Frugal Cottage. To be honest, the longer it went without writing, the harder it seemed to come back and write again.
But, I love writing my blog. I love interacting and talking to people. So, I’m back.
But, where have I been?
If you don’t follow me on YouTube or any other social media channels, you might not know this. But, 6 months ago my entire world was turned upside down and it feels like it may never be the same again. From that point onwards, until fairly recent, it has just been about survival and keeping my children safe. I uploaded a video at the end of June entitled The Video I Never Thought I’d Have To Make where I talk about what has happened, though not in much detail.
I never thought I would be in this position. Thought I suppose no-one does. The hard part is that many of the things that have been talked about here on this blog and over on YouTube may never come to fruition now. That makes me feel incredibly sad.
But, there are some positives:
- I have survived so far!
- I have reached almost 11,000 subscribers on YouTube
- I currently have 17,500 followers on Instagram
- My Etsy shop continues to grow
- Me and my boys are getting used to our new normal as a family of three.
- I’ve found that I am stronger than I ever thought I would be
- I have found out who my true friends are
- I have had the support of some wonderful professionals
That’s not bad, is it? So yes, I am back! It might be a bit different going forward but I want to talk about money saving, budgeting, making money and everything else. Especially with the cost of living at the moment. Thank you for sticking around if you’ve been here a long time. I very much appreciate you.

Glad you’re back. You have got this. Hold you head up high & trudge on. You can still have the same goals of retiring early & such, it just might take a little longer & a little different approach.
You will get it figured up. Keep up the good work. Karen
