Goodness me. How fast has January gone by? 2017 is going to be a record paced year at this rate! It seems like January has gone by in a blink of an eye. Though it does feel like Christmas was ages ago. Strange. It has been a quiet month for the Frugal Cottage household in general.
I have, however, done something a little bit exciting. Last week I filmed something for Channel 4! I shall let you know when it will be aired, as the producer said it would be Spring. That’s a little vague to say the least 😉 it was a good experience, though a bit awkward at times. I’m not sure I’m going to like what I look like on the screen.
Anyway, onto January’s aims to see how I got on.
My Financial aims for January were:
– Have 20 No Spend Days (NSDs)
– Overpay our mortgage by £50
– Put £1,000 into savings
Ah, the elusive NSDs. I started off really well in January with hardly any spends during the week. The past week or so some smaller spends have crept in. However, I managed to achieve 19 NSDS for January, so I’m pleased with that as a starting point. Only one away! Here’s hoping February will be just as good. I managed to overpay our mortgage by £45.37 so close to my original aim. I’m not too worried about that so will take that as a pass! Finally, onto our savings aim. We have spent quite a bit this month on household items which were necessary, so that took a bit of a hit in the budget. I have managed to save £815.88 which I am pleased about. It’s not too near the aim, but it’s still good none the less. Definitely a positive start to 2017!
My Personal Aims for January were:
– start my sourdough starter kit
– launch Frugal Cottage Coaching
– start to get rid of some of my clothes
Now, I am a bit embarrassed to say that I have achieve a grand some of zero in my personal aims. I Don’t even know if it is acceptable to say I don’t actually know where to time has gone! I have been going to bed earlier during the week in the attempts to catch up on some sleep. But, it doesn’t really excuse this! February has to be better in this area. Much better.

Really good goals and well done on getting so close to them all. It is better to set goals and get close than to not bother at all. It’s only January and it’s a great start for the year! 🙂 Keep it up!
