Hello June!It seems strange to be starting another month when there are so many uncertainties. But, I keep saying that I am trying to keep things as normal as I can, so here we are. I think that possibly, by the end of the month, I may be back at work. I am not as it stands today, but I think that will change. June seems to be another month where it’s hard to plan ahead. We are not sending our four year old back to school; we are in close contact with his school and that’s the best decision for us at the moment.
Finances wise, it is having an impact, in good and bad ways. Our food budget has gone up, because we are eating at home all of the time, plus it’s still proving difficult to get non-branded items of certain things, so it’s naturally more expensive. Petrol use is way down, so that’s a good thing. I have set my up my June budget so I am prepared! So long as it doesn’t go quite as off plan as May did, then I think we’ll be alright 🙂 we do have our holiday to pay for – we’ve booked a self-catering cottage in Scotland in the summer holidays – and at the moment it’s still going ahead. I hope we can go as we are all desperate for a change of scene. So unless it’s cancelled, we have the final balance to pay during June.
Also, this little space of mine turns 6 today! I have been blogging here at The Frugal Cottage for six years. I can hardly believe I’ve managed to keep it going for that long. Thank you for reading – it means such a lot! I have a more in detailed post about the past six years going up on Wednesday with lots of facts and figures in it, so look out for that 🙂
My Financial aims for June are:
– Have 20 No Spend Days (NSDs)
– Overpay the mortgage by £185
– Put £700 into savings
Same as always; these should be easy to meet providing our jobs stay secure. Technically, with us both being key workers they should be. I mentioned briefly in a video last week about how I need to up our emergency fund. Any spare cash I have at the moment, aside from money for our long term goals, shall be put into our emergency fund. This has worked well during May so I am keeping it the same. Slow and steady wins the race!
My Personal Aims for June are:
– take each day as it comes
– teach myself something new 🙂
Another month where it just needs to be taken day by day. There’s not much else to do at this stage! And I want to try and teach myself a new skill so this is my aim for this month. I have been watching and reading all about it so I just need to start and have a go, I think! 🙂
Here’s to surviving June! What are your aims for the month? I’d love to hear them!
