How is January almost over? It feels like it’s gone by in a blur of sleep deprivation, to be honest. Christmas seems like a long time ago! It’s definitely been a period of adjustment for our family, as we’ve gone from a family of three to a family of four 🙂
I last wrote a Life Update post in November, when I was 35 weeks pregnant, and feeling it! Well, Frugal Baby #2 arrived two weeks later, so we didn’t have that much longer to get things sorted. It’s strange, as I can’t remember life without him. Plus, remembering how it felt to be pregnant is also tricky – I miss the bump sometimes!
The hardest thing so far has been the lack of sleep. Not that Frugal Toddler sleeps fantastically, but it’s definitely a shock to the system. It is getting better slowly, but it’s tough. Especially when there’s an energetic toddler running around too! No lazing around on the sofa the second time round 😉 #1 has been good, most of the time. He seems to have adapted quite well so far and is quite taken by his little brother. I think he’d like it if he could do more with him, but the time will come.
Finances wise, it’s not been too bad. January seems to be have quite a low spend month really. Yes, there are expenses that creep up on you (like how many nappies we are currently going through) but on the whole, it’s been good. We’ve booked a family holiday away to Center Parcs in April, which I’m very excited about. It’s nice to have things to look forward to! We’re going with Mr FC’s parents and his sister and her husband 🙂
This little corner of mine has taken a back seat since Frugal Baby #2 arrived, on purpose. I want to spend more time with him, plus the demands of a newborn are constant. So, I’ve had less time to myself and less time to focus on writing. I’ve got a couple more guest posts coming up from some lovely money bloggers, so there’ll be something to read 🙂 I am hoping that our routines might settle a bit more so that I can back to doing blog things in the evening once the kids are in bed. That’s the plan!
Frugal Toddler has started nursery just this week. He’s going two mornings a week and seemed to really enjoy it 🙂 lots of playing with different toys and other children will be good for him. In September he’ll go full time as I think we’ll get the thirty free hours funding, so starting now gives him a taster for that. In fact, I think I found it harder than he did that first morning! He ran in without a second glance and started playing straight away. I suppose I should be glad he didn’t get upset 🙂
I started Slimming World last week, as a motivation to lose my pregnancy weight. I was going before I fell pregnant the second time, and I do think it helps providing I stay on plan. Having to weigh in with other people and talk about it definitely helps me stay more on track. I’m hoping that I have a good loss this week! It does mean that I am eating more fresh fruit and vegetables so it’ll be interesting to see if it has a big impact on our grocery budget.
I think February will be fairly quiet for us; we’ve got nothing planned. Getting used to our new routines and how our four will work. I’m looking forward to seeing Frugal Baby #2 changing and growing, plus Frugal Toddler entertaining us as always. He’s so funny and such a character. I feel very lucky 🙂
What about you? What exciting things have happened to you lately?Â

Glad you’re getting into the rhythm of being a family of 4. It’s tough in the early months of broken sleep, but glad things are improving for you.
I’ve started following slimming world just at home, to shift the weight from baby number 3!
I’ve started writing a book, too, but expect it will take quite some time given that I mostly work on it during baby nap times!

Sounds like things are going nicely for you!
We’ve just been plodding along really, nothing ground-breaking happening, just enjoying life which is nice isn’t it.
Waiting for my Mum’s open heart surgery date now – soon be here!

I admire you for being able to write a blog when baby #2 is so little. I only have 1 baby but suffered so much in the first weeks/months with sleep deprivation, I was completely dead for almost 2 months and unable to enjoy life! Luckily things really improve with time 🙂 good luck with all your plans and keep up with the motivation!:)
