I thought I would do another Life Update post, as I haven’t done one since January, and a lot has changed since then.
The Frugal Baby is (almost) ten months old now, it’s crazy how fast time flies now. He still hasn’t masted the art of crawling yet; he can get onto all fours and rocks a bit, but that’s it! He does like to be stood up if he can hold onto someone, or something. I think he’s going to be one of these babies who doesn’t really crawl, but will suddenly walk! We have got him one of these:
to help him walk around, though he needs lots of support and holding onto at the moment. He also loves lifting the seat up and down; it can keep him entertained for a while! There are lots of different sounds and noises too, so it was definitely a good buy for us. I can’t wait until he can sit and push himself along on it!

Going back to work hasn’t been as hard as I thought it was going to be. I think I had built it up to be this really terrible thing to be leaving my baby at home, but in all honesty, I don’t think he noticed particularly! He is pleased to see me when I get home and attempts to give me kisses but just ends up slobbering over my face which is cute and not at the same time. It is nice to have some time where I can be more “me” and not just “Mummy” and also eat my lunch in peace with a hot cuppa! I think that three days is going to be a good balance. Of course, it means my income is vastly reduced, but spending time with him is so worth it.
Meal planning and eating healthier continues to be an aim of mine. I am a big fan of meal planning as it minimises food waste and ensures that I only buy what we need. I have been running our stockpile supplies a little low lately, apart from the mountains of tinned chopped tomatoes we seem to have, so I will be working at building it back up over the summer. To keep my portion sizes in check I have bought a new portioned lunch box to take to work which is working really well:

and I think it’s making me be more creative with my lunches than just taking a sandwich every day. I am thinking about perhaps trying to make some homemade falafel to take with me next week!

Finally, I’m really looking forward to the next couple of months. We’ve got our first little family holiday away in June; we’ve booked a cottage near the Lakes to go to for the week. I’ll have to come home to go to work for three days in the middle, but that means Mr FC can have some Daddy-son time with the Frugal Baby, plus I’ll get to have an uninterrupted night’s sleep 😉
So, there you have it, an update on me! Have you got any breaks away planned?

Time flies so fast indeed. Your baby is now 10 months old. What’s your plan for your baby’s birthday?

Those animal pants are so cute! My son just turned 8 months old so I can relate. He loves to be walked around holding onto our fingers, but no official walking or crawling on his own yet. I’m glad your work arrangement is working for you! Working less for more time with the baby is so worth it.

They’re from Marks and Spencer! And yes, working less so I can spend time with my family is priceless.
