Juggling a newborn comes with many challenges, and facing a reduced income can add to the stress that a newborn brings. At a time when you want to cherish your new addition there are still a few things you can do to make some extra money. Here are some ideas to make money as a new parent.
Mystery shopping
Mystery shopping is where you evaluate the service provided by a company – usually a shop or a restaurant, by making a purchase and answering questions about the service you received or the cleanliness of the location. Not only do you get your purchase reimbursed, but you can also get a fee for carrying out the assignment.
The best tasks you can get as a new parent would be supermarket tasks, or cafe assignments where you can enjoy time with your new addition and get paid to have a meal. Here is a list of the mystery shopping companies that I can recommend.
Start a blog
When you have a child you are experiencing a lot of firsts, and having a blog would allow you to document this special time. As your blog progresses, you might decide to start monetising it and getting it to bring you an income. Bloggers make money from sponsored posts, adverts, affiliates and many other ways. My blog was started as a hobby and has now grown into a big enough business for me to employ my husband, so if you are looking for a creative outlet that could bring you an income in the future as well as helping you to save money then you might want to consider starting a blog.
Online Surveys
Completing online surveys isn’t going to make you rich, but it does help to pay for the occasional treat. Surveys can last anything from a minute to over an hour, but they usually tell you how long they will take to complete before you start. That way you can decide whether you can risk a 15 minute survey whilst your baby naps, or if you have time for a longer, higher paid survey. My favourite website is Prolific Academic, where you can cash out as soon as you have hit £5.
Enter free daily draws
Did you know that you can enter free daily lotteries based on your Postcode, your birthday and even just logging in every day and hitting a button? These free daily lotteries make their money from advertising, so all you have to do is visit their websites daily and see if you have won. The prize pots vary from £5 to over £1,000, with the Free Postcode Lottery being the biggest.
I hope that this blog post has given you some ideas for making money as a new parent.
