Hello November! There are lots of things to look forward to this month; some of our good friends are getting married, Mr FC has some time off so we can spend it as our little family and we’ll continue to make memories that we can keep forever. I’m hoping that we can continue to try and get into some kind of routine, especially during the night as I am missing sleep somewhat! I know that it’ll be a while because our son is so young, but I can hope, right?
Every month I like to set myself aims for the month, to keep myself focused and to make sure I actually use the time during the month wisely! There are two sets of aims: Finance and Personal. October was somewhat hit and miss in terms of my aims, both Financial and Personal, so I’m hoping to get right back on track in November, as we continue towards the end of the year. I’m also hoping to get most of our Christmas shopping completed, though we shall see. I have a feeling it won’t be quite so straight forward this year!
Financial aims for November:
– Have 20 No Spend Days (NSDs)
– Overpay our mortgage by something
– Put £500 into savings
– Open a stocks and shares ISA.
I didn’t hit our target for NSDs for October, but I haven’t decreased the number target for November. This is because our income is continuously decreasing at the moment so not spending is vital to our success. Our mortgage overpayment targets have changed again; I want to continue overpaying but I don’t know if we can commit to a certain number at this stage. However, as being mortgage free is a bit part of a goals, I want to continue to overpay for as long as we can, even if it’s a small number. The savings target for the month remains the same as October, as our household income keeps decreasing, so this will be harder to hit. That combined with holiday shopping means this might be tricky. Finally, I need to open a stocks and shares ISA. I just need to do this, hence why it’s finally on my monthly aims list.
Personal Aims For November:
– lose 4lbs
– declutter one bin bag’s worth of stuff
– buy 50% of our Christmas presents
Now that I’m not pregnant anymore, I have some weight to lose! Luckily, I didn’t gain too much weight during pregnancy but there is still some there that I’d like to get rid of. I didn’t lose any weight in October so I’ll need to try really hard in November to achieve this. I’m going to try and consistently exercise three times a week and eat more healthily; it’s far too easy to end up snacking all day whilst I’m at home and I need to break this habit I’ve fallen into asap. As decluttering was part of October’s aims and I didn’t do anything, I’ve kept it on here for November. Ideally decluttering would also bring in some cash but we shall see. Lastly, I’d like to get our Christmas shopping half complete, if not more than that. I don’t want it to be a rush last minute!
Do you have any aims for this month? What will challenge you the most? I’d love to hear from you!

I love you set you monthly aims for yourself! We have monthly financial goals as well, so they tend to be fluid. Will have to give this a go. We have car repairs this month, so paying for these repairs continues to be our aim!

Thanks for stopping by! I like to set monthly aims so I feel I achieve something during the month 🙂 urgh to car repairs; do you need a lot doing to it?

Setting yourself monthly aims is great as long as you’re not too hard on yourself if you don’t quite make them! All about being realistic (which it sounds like you are doing!) but also reviewing where or what went wrong if it did… I’ll be interested to pop back and see where you are with it in December.
Good luck!
