Goodbye September! I can’t believe it’s already over. How fast did that go?! Although it feels like I’ve lost the last week of the month due to contracting a horrible sickness bug. I don’t remember the last time I have been that ill. For the first 24 hours I struggled to keep water down, never mind anything else. Thankfully, I seem to be out of the other side.
On 23rd September, I attended the UK Money Bloggers conference and awards in London. I didn’t win the People’s Choice award that I was shortlisted for. But, I don’t mind! I had a great day meeting and chatting with lots of incredible bloggers. The only downside to that day was that my train was delayed 4 hours which meant I didn’t get home until 2:30am. Not great when you’re nearly 7 months pregnant!
Other than that, September has been quiet for us. Just the usual routine of work and home. Frugal Baby is saying more and more words now – I absolutely love it. We can have little conversations now! And he is funny 🙂 and quite bossy at times [I wonder who he gets that from…?] too. We still haven’t heard from the nursery we’re hoping to get a place out, so it might mean making a phone call next week about it.
My Financial aims for September were:
– Have 18 No Spend Days (NSDs)
– Overpay our mortgage by £50
– Put £800 into savings
Since taking part in a No Spend Month, I feel like I have gained control over my NSDs once more. It’s only take all year! I looked back at the spreadsheet I keep of our finances and NSDs have been lacking for months on end. Well, I finally have managed to crack them this month. Woohoo! I have managed 20 NSDs which I’m so pleased about. Overpaying is taking a backseat but it is nice to see our mortgage balance go down every month. I have overpaid £50.88 this month, so I have met my aim 🙂 Finally, I transferred £837.35 into savings. I have met all three financial aims for the month. Again, that hasn’t happened in a long time! Perhaps I’m finally getting back into the groove of things.
My Personal Aims For September were:
– be in bed by 10pm every night
– list 10 things on ebay
– sort out my coaching programme for launch
I am getting much better at going to bed earlier. Perhaps not quite 10pm every night but somewhere close. Because Frugal Baby still isn’t the greatest sleeper, I am needing to go to bed earlier just so I feel somewhat able to function in the morning. I still need to work on this in October, but it’s going well. I need to stop putting listing things on ebay as an aim. Maybe if I stop putting it, I might actually get round to it! And likewise, the coaching programme needs to stop being an aim. The fear of failure is real, so to speak.

Isn’t it funny how we can accomplish things better when we stop pressuring ourselves to do them? 🙂 I stopped putting “Work out” on my daily to-dos and I tend to actually work out more now. Great job on your September goals!
Nicola says
It is, perhaps because the added pressure isn’t there? And thanks!

Congratulations on the financial goals! It feels great when you start to take control of your finances and pay debt down. And yes, September went way too fast, and the year is getting there too.
Nicola says
Thank you! And yes, 2017 is flying by.
