September seems to have been a strange month. Our routines have changed yet again, as Frugal Toddler is now attending nursery full time. He loves it! Not that he tells us much about what he does all day. But, he does come out smiling each day so I’m happy 🙂
Other than that, September has been quiet. We have all just been at work/nursery/grandparents. Frugal Baby has started crawling now so can get everywhere. Which he’s really pleased about! And his new trick, just in the last couple of days, is waving to people. It is so cute 🙂 he managed to charm a lot of people in the supermarket yesterday by waving at them and smiling.
My Financial aims for September were:
– Have 18 No Spend Days (NSDs)
– Overpay our mortgage by £85
– Put £600 into savings
Ah, NSDs. My personal nemesis at the moment it seems! I have struggled with these for ages. Little spends creeping in. However, I have finally managed to hit my target for a change. Just! I have had 19 NSDs in September 🙂
I haven’t overpaid our mortgage by much this month. Not entirely sure why, either? I have overpaid a very small £4.62 🙂
Finally, I have put exactly £600 into savings this month. I’m ok with this! We have some other things we are saving for, so I’m happy to have met this aim. I am hoping that some more things sell on ebay over the coming days so that October starts off strong. We shall see.
My Personal Aims For September were:
– have 20 days on plan on Slimming World
– use my budget planner throughout the month
– get a better night time routine
About half way through the month, I decided to stop going to Slimming World. I am not enjoying the plan as much as I was and the two hours I was spending at a group on a Monday night was too much. Mondays are long anyway without being out until 9:30pm too. So, I have decided to have a break from it for now. Happy with this decision 🙂
I have used my budget planner throughout the month, though I have got a bit behind with filling out the expense tracker. We spend a lot more than we used to! However, it does make you think about spending so I’m hoping to continue this throughout October.
Finally, I’m so tired at the moment that I have been going to bed fairly early. Not necessarily having the best routine as such, more just getting more sleep. Or trying to, anyway; sleep is evading me as of late. Not entirely sure that I’d class this as a success?

Despite your ups and downs you have done really well this month. Slimming or even adjusting your diet is incredibly difficult. Especially juggling a family and job. You are very motivated and strong, I’m sure you will find your own way to heathy eating. I’ve realised very quickly that you may think that you have everything budgeted for, possibly a good idea of how your monthly finances might pan out. Wrong! Something always pops up. My first month was harder than I thought. Happily I managed 13 NSDs and an extra saving of £75. I would have saved more if I hadn’t had an MOT and car tax to pay. You keep going with your plans. You are certainly motivating me x

What a brilliant month! I know you’ve been struggling with no spend days over the last couple of months so it’s awesome to see you smash that goal, and to see you put so much into savings! 🙂
