I am a big fan of Autumn (Fall) and Winter. I love the cooler seasons when the nights are darker, all of the seasonal fruit and veg comes in season and sitting with candles lit and blankets on the sofa. So I’m excited about September! We’ve got a busy month ahead but I’m sure we’ll have a great time too.
Every month I like to set myself aims for the month, to keep myself focused and to make sure I actually use the time during the month wisely! There are two sets of aims: Finance and Personal. August was good in terms of our financial goals, but wasn’t that good for personal aims so I’m hoping that September will be much better.
Financial aims for September:
– Have 20 No Spend Days (or NSDs)
– Overpay our mortgage by the interest added on only
– Put £600 into savings
I need to up my game in terms of NSDs, otherwise I’m not going to hit my yearly target! I find that it’s easier not to spend in the winter months than the summer months, so here’s hoping that September proves easier in terms of not spending! We’ve got some nights out planned, but I just need to plan my finances accordingly. Like last month, our mortgage overpayment will just be in the interest added only as I’m happy with how that went in August. And I have left the savings target at £600, though I’m hoping it’ll be more in the end. Reaching my NSD target does have an impact on savings, so the two go hand in hand.
Personal Aims for September:
– make a tea loaf
– lose 4 lbs
– drink more water
A tea loaf is a cake loaf made with tea-soaked dried fruit, like raisins and sultanas. At one point, I was making this loaf regularly for my husband to take to work with him but I haven’t made it in ages. So, I want to make it again! I just need to find the recipe. I have not eaten healthy in August at all, so I need to get back on track with this. I’ve set my weight loss goal at 4 lbs, as a lb a week should be do-able, if I focus. Lastly, I’m terrible at drinking water – I drink a lot of tea – so I’m making this am aim too.
Do you have any aims for this month? What will challenge you the most? I’d love to hear from you!

I have to focus on my weight too. 1lb a week is a good healthy target. I’ve never heard of tea loaf, but it sounds delicious!

Good luck with your September goals! I really need to focus on my weight as well. I’m about 10 pounds heavier from just a few months ago, and it’s driving me crazy. I’ve already been working on changing that by going on a few walks each day with my dog.

Good luck with your weight loss too 🙂

Good luck this month! I was wondering what a tea loaf was; it sounds really interesting! Drinking tea is better than many alternatives, but I should drink more water, too. It’s about the only thing I drink, I just don’t get thirsty that often.

I drink too much tea probably! Lots of people are interested in the tea loaf so I’ll post pics and a recipe 🙂 it’s so tasty!
