Hello September! As much as I sound like a cliche, I love the colder months. I’m looking forward to jumper weather! Although, as August weather-wise was so poor, I’m hoping that September is better. Only so that me and Frugal Baby can get out and do some things whilst we can.
Talking of Frugal Baby, we should find out next week if he’s got a place at the nursery we want him to go to. We’ve put him down for two mornings a week, just to begin with. He’s more than ready for this now and I think the socialisation aspect will be important for him. The nursery we want him to go to focuses a lot of being outside and learning through play, which he’ll love. Although part of me isn’t ready for this, I know it’s for him and he’ll thrive.
September should be a fairly quiet month for us. I’ve got the UK Money Bloggers conference and awards on the 23rd September in London, but that’s it. Sometimes it’s nice to have a month where there’s not a lot happening. A chance to take stock and relax a bit. As I’ll be running the No Spend Month Challenge across on Facebook, that won’t be a bad thing!
Financial aims for September:
– Have 18 No Spend Days (NSDs)
– Overpay our mortgage by £50
– Put £800 into savings
The dreaded NSDs. I cannot seem to get a grip on these! However, as I’m taking part in a no spend month, this should be more than manageable. Shouldn’t it? We shall see; I am hoping I hit this for once. As always, I am continuing with plodding along with mortgage payments, though I am aiming for less. This is because I want to continue building my investments and dividend income. The savings aim is higher than last month, as I’m hoping that the combination of a quieter month, no spends and re-focussing will mean a better savings number.
Personal Aims For September:
– be in bed by 10pm every night
– list 10 things on ebay
– sort out my coaching programme for launch
I put the first aim last month but mainly thanks to Frugal Baby, I failed complete.y I’ve put it again as I desperately want to get into a better bedtime routine. I’m so tired all of the time and I feel as this pregnancy progresses that’s just going to get worse! Like I put last month, I have quite few clothing items that I keep meaning to get listed on eBay. Any extra pennies for the pot will help in my savings aim, plus I want to get some savings for any extra baby things we might end up buying. Finally, my coaching programme is almost ready, so I want to be researching all I can for the launch of it. Lots of things still to research and make decisions on! But, I’m excited about this 🙂
That’s it! Here’s to September being great 🙂
What are your aims for the month?

Do you ever find that your no spend day strategy leads you to make multiple purchases on the days that you do spend money? Personally, I suspect that if I was trying to have no spend days that I’d just lump all of my usual spending onto certain days, and possibly even add in some extra spending just to make sure that I can get something I want, rather than spending less overall.

I suppose I do tend to spend multiple times in one day this way, but most of the time it’s on things I would be spending on anyway, if that makes sense? 🙂

I’m definitely hoping to spend less in September than I did in August. I also plan to get a bunch of produce from my garden processed and frozen to save money on groceries this winter!

Sounds like a great plan!

Some great aims! Personally, I love these quieter months…time to unwind and reflect on what’s important 🙂 Fingers crossed that you get the nursery place that you are hoping for x

Thank you; I hope we do too 🙂
