Hello September! It’s been a while since I’ve done an aims post. In fact, I don’t think I’ve done for over a year now. Circumstances change and then it all feels a bit pointless. But, I finally feel like just maybe I’m getting back on track. Don’t get me wrong, there are still multiple hurdles to face but I need to get back to thinking about my own finances.
September tends to be a quieter month as we adjust back to the normal routine after the school holidays. My children in particular like routine so it helps. I’m hoping to do a No Spend September as well, to help with rising spending costs. I’m hoping to do a video on this soon, so watch this space!
As always, the start of a new month means new goals. I haven’t posted them here for a while but I do them every month to keep me in check. Otherwise I tend to drift and I love some monthly aims to focus on.
My Financial aims for September are:
– Have 22 No Spend Days (NSDs)
– Put £50 into my emergency fund
– Re-assess my sinking funds for the year.
I am going to try for a No Spend September, so 22 NSDs should be fairly straightforward. I think I’ll be so busy that I won’t have time to spend! Although, you can remind me of that at the end of the month if it doesn’t go to plan… 😉 My emergency stands at £0 so I am desperate to get this up and running again. Especially now as I am now a single parent and more responsibilities that go alongside that. My sinking funds have not been a success this year – mainly due to having no spare pennies! – but I need to assess these and decide what to do for the remind of 2023.
My Personal Aims for February are:
– finish reading my current reading book
– try and eat more healthily
– get to bed early!
Reading is my thing but I haven’t had the energy to do any recently. I am reading this book at the moment which I started so I want to finish it. It seems good so far, I just need to get to bed at a reasonable time so I’m not too tired to read.
I am a proper stress/emotional eater and this has been more and more apparent in recent months. I need to get back into eating better, as it all plays a role in making my mental health and well being better. I know exactly what I need to do; I just need to do it!
Finally, I am the worst person for lying in bed and scrolling on my phone. I have my own TikTok account and spend far too much time watching others. Before I know it, a substantial part of time has passed and then I find it difficult to get to sleep. This ties into not reading either, so it would be beneficial in all aspects.
Here’s to September being great! What are your aims for the month? I’d love to hear them!

Great to see a new post after all this time. Helps nudge me into keeping to good habits and planning out the pennies.
