I wasn’t going to write a Weekend Edition post this weekend, purely because it has been a difficult week.
Firstly, a work colleague whom I have known for a long time, her husband passed away. He had been battling cancer for a while now, but couldn’t any longer. They’re in their forties, with two teenagers. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain she is feeling at the moment.
Then, I got a phone call from my Mum this morning to tell me that my Grandma has passed away. She had been ill for a while, but even so, it hurts just as much. One of the first posts I wrote here on The Frugal Cottage was about my Grandma, and how excellent she was with her money. I remember her showing me her budgeting book, and how she kept track of every single outgoing and incoming from their bank accounts. How she checked to see that everything was how it should be.
I remember when I was little and we were there on a Sunday, that she would make Yorkshire puddings to have as a starter with gravy, before Sunday dinner itself. The Yorkshire puddings were the best bit! This was so that you were filled up before the main event, so that you didn’t have to have as much main course. Money saving! She was so careful with money, even before I realised it.
Hug those close to you today, time is short.
Thank you Grandma, love you always xxx
